Get even more cloud storage with Dropbox for BlackBerry

If you don’t use Dropbox for BlackBerry, you’re missing out on free and easy cloud storage. Everyone who signs up for a free account at Dropbox.com gets a free 2GB of cloud storage. Combined with the free BlackBerry app, it’s useful way not only to store files, but also manage them. While 2GB is a fair amount, especially for free storage, you can run through it pretty quickly. Dropbox does have premium plans, where you can pay a monthly fee for additional storage. But now they’re running a promotion where users can refer others to get an additional 500MB of storage — up to 16GB total. If you don’t already have Dropbox, now is the perfect time to join. If you are a member, it’s time to start signing up people.
The Dropbox for BlackBerry app is a pretty useful one. It acts in the basic file manager capacity, letting you view all the files and folders in your Dropbox account. A search function is included, in case you have a large file library.
One feature I’ve used frequently is sending files, in link form, over email. You can send someone a link to a file in your Dropbox account, and she can download it by clicking the link in her email.
Dropbox for Blackberry also gives you the ability to view media files that you’ve uploaded. I’ve found this to be a great way to expand your music storage, since you can play the files right from the Dropbox app. If you have a strong 3G/4G or WiFi signal, you can get pretty seamless playback. You can also view image files you’ve uploaded as well.
If you’re already a Dropbox member but don’t have the app, you can get Dropbox for free at App World. You can sign up new members and expand your free storage by following a link on top of your screen after you log in. If you don’t yet have Dropbox, you can use my referral link to sign up here. It’s well worth it — unsurprising, since it’s a free 2GB of storage.
